Pricing out your move?

Moving companies are an investment. I mean, they’re expensive pretty much no matter what. However, whether the investment you make is good or bad will depend on the particular movers you choose.

There is no set cost for moving companies. Moving companies charge different prices for different services. If you want to find the best deal, you need to know how they charge, and apply that knowledge to your particular move.

There are three main factors that determine how much movers cost: (1) the distance of your move, (2) what you’re moving, and (3) the particular difficulties of your move.

The Distance of Your Move

Simply put, the further away you’re moving, the more expensive it’ll be. However just how much more expensive it’ll be will depend on how the moving company charges. Some will charge for miles driven, others for gas, and others a flat rate for wherever you’re going. Additionally, long-distance movers have resources in far away places, which help them lower the cost.

If you’re moving far away, make sure to get a flat rate and to deal with long-distance movers. If you’re moving close by, however, you might be able to get a cheaper deal by paying per mile.

How Much You’re Moving

Again, simply put, the more you move, the more expensive moving will be. It’s elementary. However, just how much more expensive it’ll be will depend.

Some movers charge by the pound. Others charge by space used in the truck. And still others offer flat rates.

If you have a ton of heavy, large things, try to get a flat rate. However, if you don’t have much to move, try to find a low by-the-pound price.

Your Particular Move

Some moving companies will charge for difficult circumstances, like stairs, and others have rates that vary depending on the time of the day, week, month or year. Additionally, some charge extra if you need help packing.

Know what you need done; know what will make your move difficult; and know when you want to move. Then, try to find a company that can handle all of that without hitting you with extra fees.
