Lakeland, FL, does its name justice by having 38 lakes within its borders. Groves of citrus trees surround the city and contribute to the economy. Below the surface lies another world, a large population of alligators and sink holes may make some reconsider residing here. That combined with high unemployment and thirty five percent of the population being below the poverty line can make Lakeland a little less than desirable.
